“Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible. We all wish for world peace, but world peace will never be achieved unless we first establish peace within our own minds. We can send so-called 'peacekeeping forces' into areas of conflict, but peace cannot be opposed from the outside with guns. Only by creating peace within our own mind and helping others to do the same can we hope to achieve peace in this world.”
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Tibetan Monk

Peace can easily be mistaken for something that exists outside of yourself - something that can be disturbed by forces outside of your control - war being the extreme example.  But peace is not an absence of conflict, but rather a state of inner tranquillity and harmony, achieved through the practice of mindfulness and meditation. Buddha said: “Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without." The card of Peace therefore, invites you to open the door to your inner sanctuary. Even if there is chaos around you, reflect upon peace, project peace, be peace, for your sake and the sake of the whole world.

Peace Mantra: Within and without, I embody peace and harmony.
