vanity

“Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves; vanity, to what we would have others think of us.”
Jane Austen

Vanity is an excessive amount of concern with one's appearance or social status. Generally speaking - an excessive preoccupation with oneself. It is the need for admiration and approval from others, and the belief that our worth is determined by what others think of us. Vanity is a form of self-deception. If you have chosen the card of Vanity it encourages you to cultivate self-love while remaining mindful of the needs and concerns of others. It is through self-compassion that you reach genuine love and connection. Be wary of those vain ones around you who might seek to convince you by word or deed that it is their approval you need.

Vanity Mantra: I embrace self-love and acceptance, transcending the need for external validation.
